All the students of LSAMP and LSAMP-BD are invited to submit an abstract to the ABRCMS annual conference in Phoenix, Arizona to share research.
The 2017 Conference: http://www.abrcms.org/
Full call for papers: http://www.abrcms.org/index.php/present-at-abrcms/submit-an-abstract
Several NSF USM LSAMP-BD Fellows, LSAMP and Meyerhoff fellows have participated in ABRCMS before.
To make plans for ABRCMS 2017:
- Abstract submission deadline 9/8/17: The student paper submission will be open for a few more days. You may submit an abstract based on your research. The conference primarily focuses on biology and chemistry, however, students with other science backgrounds are invited (ex. Engineering, Math, Physics, Immunology, Social Sciences).
- Let us know that you have submitted by writing a short comment at the bottom of this post. Include your name, school, discipline, your LSAMP or AGEP program. (Example LSAMP students in Maryland (Meyerhoff – UMBC, CMSE – UMES, LSAMP Scholars – UMES) belong to the USM LSAMP. Students from Morgan, Howard, etc. are part of the WBHR-LSAMP. URM STEM Graduate students at any school within the University System of Maryland are part of the PROMISE AGEP.)
Limited funding for travel (registration, flight, lodging) has been reserved for those USM LSAMP and PROMISE AGEP students whose abstracts are submitted and accepted.
- We need the CV of every student planning to attend including their cell phone number.
- Students who travel with the Maryland delegation will be expected to participate in a daily blogging exercise that will start on October 31, 2017, and end on November 5, 2017.
- All participants will blog daily for the duration of the trip in Arizona, and will respond to questions that are posed about the conference sessions and experiences.
Students from other LSAMP and AGEP programs are encouraged to talk with LSAMP and AGEP directors, faculty, and administrators at your respective universities to obtain funding. Students are also encouraged to seek travel funds through their respective student organizations.
Please note that your work will likely fit into one of these research topics
